Thank you for gathering for your loved ones and to walk through the night and to remember them. I always loved the idea behind the walk, that you would walk through the night for your loved one. Although everyone is gathered for the walk for very personal reasons and most have experienced devastating losses, as well as personal struggles with depression. Let there be a little light within you as you walk on Saturday, that your personal connection to suicide will never fade. I am not walking this year, but have in the past and there will be moments of sorrow and stories and moments of silence. I encourage you to just be in each moment with your loved ones.
My life has personally been touched by suicide- having lost friends and family members to suicide. Perhaps you have received this link from Susan, thank you for being there together and for raising your share for the American Foundation for Suicide of Prevention. Here is a song, “The Extra Mile,” I wrote with my friend Amy in mind and also the AFSP charity. I also included 2 other songs “Superhero Female” and “Don’t Take This Personal,” that will uplift your spirits. Feel free to use the download link on the right to add these songs to your catalogue and feel free to share them. Best of luck on the walk and may the spirits fly to be by your side.
Episode 24 of SLB Indie Trailer has takes us really behind-the-scenes as SLB tries to figure out the proper house concert etiquette and how to keep cool in those “Icey Hot” moments, take a listen as SLB hits Takoma Park, MD, DC, and crashes a WERA 96.7 FM radio party in Arlington, VA.
This episode is entitled “Icey Hot.”
This is a 2 part interview where host, Devlin Miles, discusses with Rachael Sage’s 20+ year career in the music industry and all her adventures from Lilith Fair to Dance Moms, she has traveled the world and toured many countries. This indie artist has figured out how to make it work as an indie artist and to keep moving mountains and keep touring. The 2nd part of the interview we discuss her indie record label Mpress Records and we hear about what it takes for her to sign an artist/band, how they find new artists, how to present yourself to an indie label, know the strengths that the label brings to the table. Hear music from Mpress Records artist: Seth Glier, A Fragile Tomorrow, Ks Choice and Rachael Sage herself.
Travel with us as we meet the locals before our show at The Black Squirrel. We hit the Amsterdam Falafel Shop, Bicycle Space, the music scene as we interview shop owners at the Crooked Beat about Vinyl sales and Smash Records about the local musical talent, such as Lindsay Buckingham Palace. So plug in your ear buds and learn with us as we find out about the best way to have a Falafel pita, which bike horn is the best, the latest bikes on the market, how to ride safely, and how vinyl rebounded, literally.
This is a 2 part episode, so listen to the deep SLB discussions as we roll to DC one early morning last Fall and then check out part 2 where we hit the ground running and find out what is happening in DC. We close the show with great indie artists, that we listened to on the road, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds from Brooklyn, Gin Wigmore from New Zealand, and Grace Potter from Vermont.
